LIFE AT CALL CENTER

Call centre is the place where I do a job after being a B.Tech graduate . But for a B.tech graduate like me and that toooo from Pailan call centre is a only destination to remove the "unemployed" tag from my name.

My day starts at 5:30 am every morning  coz i need to get dressed up and leave house at sharp 7 coz if i reach "LETS ASSIST" at 8:02 instead of reaching at sharp 8:00 for consecutive 3 days  500 bugs will be deducted from my salary. Loosing 500 rupees means so much for a shopaholic like me.

But life is not so easy after reaching there apart from the fact that you get to sit in the ac after travelling for an hour in the scorching sun. One just need to login to a machine and shout at top of their voice with the same boring script and try to convince the busy Australians to turn on their computer and listen to the guidelines that we will tell them.

When i get a call from vodafone customer care 7 times a day i normally cut the call and block those number. However , these vodafone customer care calls are not sooo time consuming. But these computer calls requires so much patience as well as time and apart from it Australians need to pay their hard earned money after giving access to their computers. If I were one of those Australians , by now I would have reported it to the police , blocked all unknown number calls , thrown away all the computers and laptops and purchased a Ipad and what else i would have done don't even know but thankfully I am not an Australian and Australians don't have a call centre still now .

It's not only the pain in the ass of the Australians but also a pain to the agents who needs to sit in the same cabinet again and again, repeat the same script 600 times in 9 hours , listen to the slangs used by the Australians, deal with the training leader's temper for giving transfers and even keep the mouth shut when Australians say us "bloody Indian" as they are our customers, they may not be in a good mood and most importantly, even though we know that tech support is a "scam" we have to fight with the Australians and convince them that their opinion is wrong. Scam because we don't use our own names, we use a Alice name, we give wrong address, wrong phone number and the errors and warnings we show are simply nothing. We fool the Australians and install some of the softwares with the name of these error and warnings.

This is a general scenario in every call centre and I am a species who loves peaceful and noiseless surroundings. Sitting at call centre for 9 horrible hours and taking calls is a impossible task for me. I make it a point to take a break of two minutes after every 30 minutes. The book "night at call centre by Chetan Bhagat" keeps haunting me. I pass 9 hours looking at my nails and the dress i wear to my office everyday and finding out the job openings in Kolkata. After 2 o clock I start counting minutes and seconds so that when the clock strikes 5 I will come out of those boring blue and white coloured walls and go to Garia to meet Tanmoy and have a chicken roll.

So what I realised in these one month at call centre is that the call centre is not my cup of tea. Hats off to people who have given sales to the company for years. So basically I need a job- a proper job.

Infact every unemployed student of pailan needs a job and that includes me too.

Finally, when I got to know that I don't have to see you for long from now (may be one more month only)  something in me has changed a lot and this realization has made me cry like hell post lunch and yes I am happy that it didn't happen in front of you. What bothered me the most all these days was your attitude, the way you made me feel uncomfortable in your presence. Right now I feel that I will miss all these things after one month, I genuinely wish that the thing that happened today, didn't happen ever . I know now my days will pass seeing your whatsapp dp and your facebook posts.

Do you deserve it ?

Once upon a tym dat is frm 27th December 2013 to smwhr till 5th July 2015 I meant everything to you. Your every word started from me and ended with me. You could have done everything for me and I was dumb enough to make you my world,to listen and believe whatever rubbish you said. You said my mom won't let us stay together so I fought with her for you and obviously you were very happy when i did so for you, you didn't realise the god damn pain I went through, but still I was happy coz I had you with me but after few days mom was dere wd both of us and everything was going on very smoothly. Yes you behaved rudely with me over simple things, you used slangs for me even after all these and never even bothered to say sorry after behaving dat way but I never minded dose coz I had a feeling dat you won't leave me. After completion of the very 1st year wd you I came to mysore. Yeah both of us were sad coz distance was very uncomfortable to both of us.
